Kobe Mt. Rokko

Rokko Cable Car

This retro cable car will take you to the top of Mt. Rokko as you enjoy seasonal views of the mountain all around. The area has been famous for brewing the drink for more than 300 years. Sample crisp, dry Nadagogo sake that goes perfectly with a variety of cuisine.

This museum, which features exhibits of Nada sake-brewing equipment in a brewery that was built in 1659, introduces the history of Japanese sake. In its tasting area you can sample raw, unprocessed sake that you can't enjoy anywhere else along with a selection of seasonal sakes. You can purchase Kiku-Masamune's crisp, dry sake as well as cosmetics, sweets, and other gifts.

Consisting of a wooden sake warehouse dating to the Meiji period and a museum featuring various exhibits, this facility introduces the history and culture of sake brewing. Create your very own glass with an original design.

This museum is distinguished by its brick exterior, which evokes the many brick buildings built during the Meiji period. Inside, there's a glass workshop where you can try "sandblasting," a process whereby fine sand is sprayed onto the surface of glass to which tape has been applied to create patterns. You can choose from numerous materials, including glasses, mugs, and plates, and create your very own design by which to remember your trip to Japan. There's also an area with information about Japanese sake, a shop featuring a special selection of gifts, and a restaurant.

Hanshin Koshien Stadium

Watch dramatic action and exciting swings up close! You can enjoy professional baseball at this stadium, which features the kind of open-air feel that is only possible at an outdoor facility. The Museum of Hanshin Koshien Stadium

This museum features exhibits of invaluable materials related to the film Kano along with displays related to high-school baseball, uniforms of famous Hanshin Tigers players through the years, and other memorabilia. It's also a great place to enjoy panoramic views of the stadium.

Amagasaki-Ebisu Shrine

At this shrine, whose 17-meter torii gate is easily visible from Hanshin trains, you can experience what it's like to be a maiden working at the shrine. To participate in a program that lets you wear the traditional costume during this cultural experience, you'll have to make reservations two days in advance on the website. Available for female visitors from overseas only, the one-hour program costs ¥2,000 per person.

Daikan Honten

The founder of this shop was the first Japanese person to open a Chinese noodle shop in Kobe's foreign settlement in 1912. The recipe for the richly flavored soup, which is prepared using soy sauce, chicken bones, and pork bones, has been passed down for about 100 years. Chinese and Korean menus are available.

Amagasaki Castle

About 400 years ago, Amagasaki flourished as a castle town. Although Amagasaki Castle was demolished about 140 years ago, the structure has been rebuilt near Amagasaki Station and opens this spring. Hanshin is operating this graphic-wrapped "Go! Go! Nadagogo!" train as part of the "Nada Sake Brewery Revitalization Project," which seeks to bring visitors and attention to Nadagogo, Japan's premier sake-brewing area.(Scheduled to run until autumn of 2019)
