Offering Safe, Convenient and Comfortable Transportation Service
Hanshin Electric Railway operates four lines, namely the Main, Hanshin Namba line, Mukogawa and Kobe Kosoku lines, over a total length of 48.9 kilometers. By carefully compiling timetables for seven types of trains, including limited express, express and semi express, we operate train services of high accuracy and efficiency.
To enhance our railway network, in February 1998 we expanded our linked-services with Sanyo Electric Railway, and began operating limited express trains between Umeda and Himeji (trains travel along the tracks of both companies). Our Company is one of the initial members of the common prepaid card fare system SURUTTO KANSAI, established in 1996 and currently comprising about 50 railway and bus companies in the Kansai region.
To improve station operating efficiency, we have introduced automatic ticket vending machines, automatic fare collection gates, and fare adjustment machines at all stations along the Main and Hanshin Namba line. All these machines and systems are remote-controlled by station operation systems installed at four station operation centers.

Safety Measures
In addition to careful inspection and maintenance of railway tracks and car bodies, as well as preparation through emergency drills, we have installed various safety systems, including computerized Programmed Traffic Control (PTC) systems and Automatic Train Stop (ATS) systems.
Multi-level Crossings
As part of the urban planning projects of municipalities along our railway tracks, we are introducing multi-level crossings to eliminate grade crossings. Multi-level crossings are effective in improving traffic safety and easing traffic congestion. The percentage of multi-level crossings is 87% for the Main Line and 90% for the Hanshin Namba line including the second kind railway business.
Barrier-free Facilities
To ensure that all of the public, including the elderly and disabled, can use our service with ease and without any concern about access, we are introducing barrier-free facilities to stations and trains. At stations, we are installing escalators, elevators and waiting rooms, along with guiding chimes and embossed tiles to guide and warn the visually impaired. Also, we are equipping our trains with special spaces for wheelchairs, buzzers warning of the opening/closing of doors, and in-train information panels.
